M*A*S*H was a popular 1968 novel about the fictional 4077th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital during the Korean War based on author Richard Hooker's experiences as a surgeon at the real 8055th MASH unit, and spawned a feature film of the same name, followed by a TV series that aired for 11 seasons, and is still on TV in reruns! While at the 8055th MASH, Hooker lived in a tent that he named the "SWAMP", as did the fictional characters Hawkeye and Trapper John from the book, movie, and TV series. If you were paying attention to the movie and TV series, you will have noticed that the door to the SWAMP tent bore the name of the tent and a Moorish good luck symbol.
